The ASUS Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 has a Secure boot capable UEFI BIOS, but it is easily possible with small adjustment to BIOS (or stored secure boot keys) to boot FreeBSD from a SATA device without issues.  I will need to add the bios version just in case this truth may change in the future.
