PBI Request List

Want to request a specific application to be made available in PBI format? If so, please list it below and create a link to the corresponding FreeBSD Port. If an application is not in the FreeBSD ports tree, it may be best to request it be added to ports first, since our PBIs are built from their corresponding port.

Once a module to build a PBI has been committed to SVN, the entry will be removed from this page. If you wish to test the resulting PBI before it has been approved for www.pbidir.com, you may do so at the sites below:

RULES for adding new PBIs

  • Please be sure to check if your PBI is already available at the URL's above.
  • Only add requests that are already available in the FreeBSD ports tree.
  • Please add URL from www.freshports.org to your application, along with other relevant ones.
  • If a program is not available in ports, you may wish to inquire about it on the ports mailing list.

Requested PBIs

Program Name Location in Ports, some other links Short description
PHPMyAdmin Versions 2.x and 3.2.3 http://www.freshports.org/databases/phpmyadmin/ MySQL DB manager and viewer. Version 3.2.3 marked as 'ignore' in Ports because it's not compatible with MySQL 4.x but supports MySQL 5.x. Version 2.x is for use with MySQL 4.x. Should make both versions available. Consider packaging V3.2.3 with the AMP inmate.
Nessus http://www.freshports.org/security/nessus-plugins/ http://www.freshports.org/security/nessus/ http://www.freshports.org/security/nessus-libraries/ http://www.freshports.org/security/nessus-libnasl/ Nessus is a comprehensive vulnerability scanning software. Its goal is to detect potential vulnerabilities on the tested systems such as:

-Vulnerabilities that allow a remote cracker to control or access sensitive data on a system. -Misconfiguration (e.g. open mail relay, missing patches, etc). -Default passwords, a few common passwords, and blank/absent passwords on some system accounts. Nessus can also call Hydra (an external tool) to launch a dictionary attack. -Denials of service against the TCP/IP stack by using mangled packets WWW: http://www.nessus.org/

PS: To install the lot in one operation, do nessus-plugins first.

OpenSSH portable version http://www.freshports.org/security/openssh-portable/ Normal OpenSSH development produces a very small, secure, and easy to maintain

version for the OpenBSD project. The OpenSSH Portability Team takes that pure version and adds portability code so that OpenSSH can run on many other operating systems (Unfortunately, in particular since OpenSSH does authentication, it runs into a *lot* of differences between Unix operating systems).

The portable OpenSSH follows development of the official version, but releases are not synchronized. Portable releases are marked with a 'p' (e.g. 3.1p1). The official OpenBSD source will never use the 'p' suffix, but will instead increment the version number when they hit 'stable spots' in their development.

Workrave http://www.freshports.org/x11/workrave/ Workrave is a program that assists in the recovery and prevention of

Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). The program frequently alerts you to take micro-pauses, rest breaks and restricts you to your daily limit. These can be customized and it stops the counter when you stop.

The program can be run distributed on one or more PCs. All connected PCs share the same timing information. When you switch computers, you will still be asked to pause on time.

SugarCRM http://www.freshports.org/deskutils/sugarcrm/ SugarCRM Open Source is a powerful Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

application, designed to help you enable your organization to efficiently organize and maintain information which is crucial to many aspects of your business.

Amanda-client http://www.freshports.org/misc/amanda-client/ WHAT IS AMANDA?

This is a release of Amanda, the Advanced Maryland Automatic Network Disk Archiver. Amanda is a backup system designed to archive many computers on a network to a single large-capacity tape drive.

Here are some features of Amanda:

 * written in C, freely distributable.
 * built on top of standard backup software: Unix dump/restore, and
   later GNU Tar and others.
 * will back up multiple machines in parallel to a holding disk, blasting
finished dumps one by one to tape as fast as we can write files to
tape. For example, a ~2 Gb 8mm tape on a ~240K/s interface to a host
with a large holding disk can be filled by Amanda in under 4 hours.
 * does simple tape management: will not overwrite the wrong tape.

gtkparasite http://www.freshports.org/devel/gtkparasite/ Developing and debugging UIs can be a pain. When something

goes wrong, it's not always obvious why. You can waste hours writing logging statements only to find out that a widget is in the wrong container, or an attribute wasn't set correctly.

Developing isn't much better either. Ever spend time writing temporary code just to test a new feature, code you know you're going to throw away in an hour, and yet you end up spending the next 20 minutes debugging your temporary code? Sucks, doesn't it?

What your program really needs is a good Parasite infestation.

Parasite is a debugging and development tool that runs inside your GTK+ application's process. It can inspect your application, giving you detailed information on your UI, such as the hierarchy, X window IDs, widget properties, and more. You can modify properties on the fly in order to experiment with the look of your UI.

The Sleuth Kit and Autopsy http://www.freshports.org/sysutils/autopsy/ The Autopsy Forensic Browser is a graphical interface to the command line

digital forensic analysis tools in The Sleuth Kit. Together, The Sleuth Kit and Autopsy provide many of the same features as commercial digital forensics tools for the analysis of Windows and UNIX file systems (NTFS, FAT, FFS, EXT2FS, and EXT3FS).

The Sleuth Kit and Autopsy are both Open Source and run on UNIX platforms. As Autopsy is HTML-based, the investigator can connect to the Autopsy server from any platform using an HTML browser. Autopsy provides a "File Manager"-like interface and shows details about deleted data and file system structures.

John the Ripper http://www.freshports.org/security/john/ John the Ripper is a fast password cracker, currently available for many

flavors of Unix (11 are officially supported, not counting different architectures), DOS, Win32, BeOS, and OpenVMS. Its primary purpose is to detect weak Unix passwords. Besides several crypt(3) password hash types most commonly found on various Unix flavors, supported out of the box are Kerberos AFS and Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 LM hashes, plus several more with contributed patches.
