Other computers/networks

Somewhere there ought to be a section to detail how to configure interactions with other computers including other operating systems, especially across a local network, such as:

  • File sharing/serving
    • NFS - Is this available out of the box, or just configuration, or does it need to be installed also?
    • Samba - Needs to be installed from FreeBSD ports, and configured seperately.
  • Remote desktop
    • X - Possible but requires seperate additional configuration.
    • Windows/MS equivalent.
  • Media streaming
    • VLC - Possibly would work after installing on both machines?
